Office of the Governor, Bobby Jindal, State of Louisiana
Proclamation Request - Page 1 of 3

A Proclamation is an official document issued by Governor Jindal.

You must provide the (draft) language for a proclamation in "Whereas, Therefore" format. The guidelines and/or sample text can be provided on request by calling 225-342-0991.

Proclamations recognize a day, week, month or year, and will not name specific organizations. For Example: "Kleinpeter Ice Cream Day" is not acceptable, but "Ice Cream Day" is acceptable.

All requests for proclamations must be in writing, either written or electronic. Proposed language may be edited or rewritten at the discretion of the Governor's office, and are granted at the discretion of the Governor's Office.

A minimum of two weeks notice is required to provide the proclamation. The Governor's office may choose to decline any requests received with less than two weeks notice. Proclamations are not sent to out-of-state individuals or organizations.

All proclamations are limited to 200 words. No proclamation will be proclaimed more than 45 days in advance, and only 1 original copy of each proclamation will be made.

Proclamations are not automatically renewed. Requests must be made on an annual basis. If the request is for a repeat of a previous proclamation, a note should be made on the request form.

Proclamations may not be used for fundraising purposes. Any use of a proclamation in a news release or other type of publication must be approved by the Governor's Office prior to publication.

Note: We cannot issue a "proclamation" for anniversaries, birthdays, retirements or individuals. You must submit a request through the Governor's Website for an "Official Statement" for those items.
